Andy Ruland is a photographer who uses large format cameras to capture still life and landscape images on film. He makes his silver-gelatin prints in a traditional darkroom. He also makes archival inkjet prints from scans of his negatives.
His “Secret Life” body of work combines his passions of bicycling and photography in elaborate and imaginative still life compositions Andy's education as a scientist emerges in the attention to detail evident in these photographs. He earned a degree from Carnegie Mellon University in chemistry in 1965. His self education in photography has been life long with formal training beginning in 2003 at Tarrant County College in Hurst Texas. Andy has had numerous group and solo exhibitions. The most recent solo exhibition was at the Southern Light Gallery in Amarillo Texas. Andy’s Resume also includes several scientific and artistic publications. He currently lives in Bedford Texas with two cats and and a very supportive spouse.
